BRIELLE POLICE DEPARTMENT

Special Law Enforcement Officer Class II

This is to advise that the position of Special Law Enforcement Officer Class II within our Marine Patrol Unit is now available at the Brielle Police Department. We are currently looking for two (2) Special Law Enforcement Officers Class II to work within the Marine Unit on weekends, holidays, and special events from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend.

*Officers may work additional limited hours during non-summer months

Job functions and duties:

The following are essential functions for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.

Maintain a security presence on the waterway(s) in and around the Borough of Brielle:
Patrol assigned areas using patrol boats
Respond to emergencies and other calls for assistance
Enforce Borough ordinances and State boating and criminal laws
Conduct criminal investigations and generate cases for prosecution
Interact with other law enforcement and safety agencies

Minimum Qualifications:

The applicant must possess a valid NJ Police Training Commission BCPO or SLEO II Certification
Must possess a New Jersey Boating Safety Certificate
The applicant must possess a valid New Jersey Driver’s License.
The applicant must successfully pass a background investigation.
The applicant must be a resident of the State of New Jersey during his or her term of appointment to this position.
Must be a citizen of the United States;
Must be at least 18 years of age;
The applicant must be able to read, write, and speak the English language with reasonable proficiency and possess a High School diploma or equivalent.
The applicant must be sound in body and good health, which must be certified by a physician licensed to practice in the State of New Jersey.
The applicant must be of good moral character and must not have been convicted of any offense involving dishonesty as would make the applicant unfit to perform his or her duties.
The applicant must be physically capable of performing the functions of the position in accordance with the Police Training Commission (PTC).

Applicants successfully passing the resume and application review stage of the process will be subject to an oral interview. Any applicant offered a conditional offer of employment will be required to pass a medical examination, psychological evaluation, and drug screening.

Hours: Approximately 24 hours per week

Salary: $25.00/hr
