ABOUT OUR COMMUNITY

Founded in 1741 and located in Rockingham County, Epping is situated in southeastern New Hampshire widely considered part of the state’s seacoast region.  State Routes 101, 125, 27, 87 and 155 passes through Epping serving as major thoroughfare for the Boston- Manchester Regional Airport, The University of New Hampshire and Hampton Beach.  Epping is within twenty (20) miles of much larger cities such as Manchester, Rochester and Portsmouth, New Hampshire as well as Haverhill, Massachusetts.     Over seventeen (17) years ago, Wal-Mart and Lowe’s Home Improvement developed a section of Route 125, which is considered by most to be the catalyst for major retail development along the Route 125 corridor.   Epping is the only municipality in New England with two automobile race- tracks; New England Dragway and Star Speedway.  The town is 26.01 square miles and bordered by eight (8) other communities.

The 2020 United States Census shows Epping as having a population of 7,072, representing a 10.07 % increase since the last census and an overall annual increase of 0.26 %.   There is a slight population surge during the summer months from people moving into their Camp Hedding summertime homes.   Due to retail, industrial, and commercial developments the town’s daytime population arguably double.
