GENERAL INFORMATION

The Manor Township Police Department was formed in May 1969 and has grown to a current staff of 19 police officers and 3 civilian support employees. The agency provides 24/7 service to the residents, businesses, and visitors of Manor Township.  The department is responsible for a jurisdiction covering 46 square miles with 143 miles of roadway and containing a population in excess of 20,500. The community consists of a rich mixture of residential, commercial, manufacturing, and agricultural areas. For more information go to www.manortwp.org 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be twenty-one (21) years of age or older.
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions and complete a competitive process including but not limited to oral interviews, physical and psychological examination, polygraph examination, and comprehensive background investigation.
  • Must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Must have a valid PA operator's license at the time of application deadline.
  • Must possess current ACT 120 MPOETC certification at time of application deadline or currently enrolled in an Act 120 Academy.
  • Municipal or State Police experience within Pennsylvania during the five year period prior to the application deadline is preferred, but not required.
  • Must be a citizen of the United States.
  • Must meet or exceed all requirements and conditions for certification under MPOETC Act 120, the Manor Township Police Department Police Officer Job Description, and the MTPD Selection and Hiring policy.

 

SELECTION PROCEDURE

  • Proper submission and receipt of application, resume, and cover letter
  • Oral Interviews with Command Staff and/or Township Administration (First oral boards scheduled for Thursday, October 18th, 2018)
  • Polygraph examination 
  • Background investigation 
  • Medical evaluation 
  • Drug screen
  • Psychological evaluation
  • Final selection will be made from any one of the top three candidates
  • Veteran preference applied to candidates within the top three final positions

 

THE MTPD OFFERS FIRST CLASS SALARY AND BENEFITS:

  • Competitive salary as provided within the existing CBA.  The 2018 starting salary is- $45,920 while Officers with up to four years’ experience may start at up to $62,760. The 2018 top Officer salary is $80,841.  Pending approval of labor organization contract 2019 starting salary will be approximately $47,300 and top salary will be $83,200+.

  • Life insurance, sick leave and extended illness time. 
  • Generous vacation and holiday leave benefits. 
  • Educational reimbursement. 
  • Department issued uniforms, equipment, and cleaning allowance. 
  • Defined benefit pension plan- superannuation retirement at 25 years and age 50. 
  • Post-retirement health benefit is a $3,000 a year investible HRA.
