POSITION:                      Detention Specialist

 

DEPARTMENT:              Nashua Police Department

HOURS WORKED:          10:00 pm to 6:00 am (5 days on, 2 days off, days off TBD)

 

AFFILIATION:                 Teamsters

 

SALARY:                         $52,948-$54,000/annually, $25.45-$25.96/hourly

                                            Wage based upon experience

 

PRIMARY DUTIES

 

Maintains accurate data in the processing and release of prisoners, including photographs and fingerprints in compliance with Local, State and Federal regulations; types complaints and court orders; maintains detailed knowledge of elements of criminal offenses, motor vehicle and criminal laws and explains the nature of complaint or arrest to offenders; maintains custody, control, and security of prisoners and their personal effects; ensures that regular checks of prisoners are accomplished; evaluates the nature of common medical emergencies, administering basic first aid and CPR when necessary; other related duties.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Must have a minimum of 1 year relevant work experience; police officer or correctional experience preferred; proficiency in use of computers; high school diploma and 1 year of schooling in related field; Associates Degree in Criminal Justice preferred; CPR/First aid certification, recommended, however can obtain certification upon being hired; combination of equivalent education and experience will be considered.
