MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

To be eligible for consideration, applicants must possess the following qualifications:

Be at least 21 years of age

Be a United States Citizen

Possess a high school diploma or equivalent

Possess a valid  driver’s license with a good driving history

Have a good moral character and be drug-free, in accordance with agency policy

Pass a background investigation which includes all items described on the agency’s automatic disqualification list, such as no felony convictions, no misdemeanor involving perjury or false statement, no convictions or injunctions for domestic violence, no dishonorable discharge from any branch of the of the United States Armed Forces, etc.

Certified applicants must have completed the Basic Recruit Training Course for Law Enforcement Officers and possess a current employment certificate of compliance for Law Enforcement issued by the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission.

Must have two (2) years of sworn law enforcement experience.

If selected for this position, the applicant must successfully complete the School Resource Deputy Basic Training and Instructor Techniques as soon as the training becomes available.  Also, the applicant will be required to complete additional Instructor and School Resource Deputy training as deemed necessary by Command Staff.

The successful candidate shall be selected through a competitive interview process.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB:    Preserves law and order and protects life and property.  The primary focus is to establish good, strong relationships with the students, parents, administration and staff.  Must work to assure a safe environment is conducive to learning.  Present a positive image of the entire Law Enforcement Community to young people. Must be willing to give time and effort to assigned school.
