PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBLITIES:
- Responsible for the collection, classification and management of information for the development of intelligence from various databases and information systems, including but not limited to NJ TRANSIT Police Department’s internal records management system, the NJ Suspicious Activity Reporting System, the National Incident Based Reporting System (NIBRS) and the National Transportation Database.
- Conduct intelligence analysis on criminal and terrorism threats, and provide written operational and strategic products for internal Police Department use. Coordinate with local, state and federal entities in the production of joint intelligence products.
- Supports the Comparative Statistics (COMPSTAT) Program by utilizing a statistical methodology focusing on geospatial and temporal patterns and preparing regular reports for the NJ TRANSIT Police Command Staff.
- Provide tactical case investigative support through the analysis of available information and data to support NJ TRANSIT Police operations.
- Support the Director of Intelligence and Intelligence Unit staff in preparing and presenting terrorism and criminal intelligence briefings to Police Department Staff, NJ TRANSIT personnel and law enforcement partners.
- Support police operations and investigations by processing information and data requests, including video feeds, crime data and other related information requests.
- Performs other tasks that may be asked or directed by Deputy or Chief of Police.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice, International Relations, Political Science or related area.
- Master’s Degree or two years of experience with law enforcement intelligence or military / national intelligence preferred.
- Successful completion of Federal IATP (Intelligence Analyst Training Program) or similar training to ensure proficiency in intelligence analysis and production desired.
- Experience with Police COMPSTAT programs desired.
- Must be proficient in data entry/formatting, database management and Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and PowerPoint as well as demonstrated organizational, records management, research, problem solving, communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
- Must be able to pass a police background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain secret clearance from the federal government.
- Must be available to work when needed during but not limited to emergencies, weekends and holidays.
- Some traveling may be needed.
