The Walton County Sheriff’s Office is actively seeking qualified applicants for the position of Information Technology Help Desk Technician

JOB SUMMARY:

This is a full-time position and will be required to work flexible hours depending on the needs and priorities of the agency. Applicant(s) understand that you will be required to participate in a rotating on-call schedule for after-hours support.

The Help Desk Technician is an I.T. professional responsible for monitoring and responding to the needs of the Walton County Sheriff’s Office computer end users. The Help Desk Technician responds to end users’ needs utilizing various communication methods, in person and through the use of remote management applications. The IT Help Desk Technician is experienced in setting up and installing personal computers, installing and troubleshooting printers, configuring and troubleshooting issues with cellular devices as well as working with a wide variety of IP based technologies. The Help Desk Technician is responsible for configuring and setting up end user accounts, profiles and permissions. He or she supports end users and applications for a diverse array of principles ranging from Law Enforcement, Fire Services, Corrections, Children & Family Services and Animal Control. The IT Help Desk Technician is highly motivated and has excellent customer service skills.  

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma

Associates Degree in Computer Science

Comptia A+

In lieu of education 3 or more recent, contiguous years of experience in relative field for position sought.

Experience working with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook)

Experience installing and troubleshooting personal computers

Experience installing and troubleshooting printers

Experience working with Windows 10

STANDARDS TO PERFORM JOB FUNCTIONS:

Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to safely operate a motor vehicle.  Must be able to climb stairs, climb, lift and raise ladders. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. unassisted.

Interpersonal Communication: Requires the ability of speaking and /or signaling people to convey or exchange information. Constant attention must be given to public relations, personal appearance, and interactions with citizens and other employees.

Language Abilities: Able to read and write English. Requires the ability to enter data into computer and prepare reports, correspondence, etc., with proper format, punctuation, spelling and grammar, using all parts of speech.  Must be able to speak with clarity, voice control and confidence and to articulate information to others. Requires the ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, to follow oral and written instructions.  Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently.

Intelligence: Requires the ability to apply principles, to make independent judgements in the absence of a supervisor, and to acquire knowledge of topics related to essential job functions.

Interpersonal Temperament: Requires dealing calmly and effectively with high stress situations. Requires maintaining composure, keeping emotions in check, controlling anger, and avoiding aggressive behavior, even in difficult situations.

Physical Communication: Requires the ability to talk and/or hear; (talking: expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken words; Hearing: perceiving nature of sounds by ear).  Must be able to hear and understand communications through a telephone.

Written Communication: Display the ability to write a minimum of one complete paragraph that is legible and can be understood by a reasonably intelligent adult.

Vision: Peripheral vision is needed so you can identify visual alarms.
