About Our Community

The rural American lifestyle is alive and well in Northern Maine. Living here, you’ll find yourself among people who take pride in what they do. Your neighbors are people you’ll know by first name when you meet them on the street and you’ll have a real opportunity to make a positive impact on the community you live in.

The City of Caribou is a full service community of 8,200 located at the heart of rural Northern Maine.

Caribou is approximately 20 minutes from the Canadian border.

For the outdoor enthusiast Caribou has tons to offer, with hundreds of miles of snowmobile and ATV trails, lit cross country ski trails, and snow shoe trails you can stay active all year round. The Aroostook Wildlife Refuge is a great place to hike all year round. The northern terminus of the Appalachian Trail, Mount Katahdin, makes a great weekend getaway and the region is renowned for its unlimited hunting and fishing opportunities.
