ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Powell Police Department employs 17 sworn police officers. The officers serve a population of 6,400 people. The officers patrol the city limits which are approximately 4.25 square miles. The Powell Police Department Communications Center is staffed by six highly trained dispatchers who answer emergency calls and dispatch police, fire, and ambulance services to the citizens of Powell.

The Powell Police Department is led by the Chief of Police and Lieutenant. The patrol division is comprised of three Patrol Sergeants, nine patrol officers, and one drug detection K9. The department also has two school resources officers who serve the seven schools in Park County School District #1.  The Investigations Division has one full time Investigator who investigates all major crimes against persons and property.
