Next Citizens Police Academy Begins Wednesday, April 3, 2024!
Spanish speaking Citizens Police Academy Begins Thursday, April 4, 2024!
 
English speaking class: The class will meet every Wednesday for eight (8) weeks in length. The class will be approximately three hours long, meeting from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm.
 
Spanish speaking class: The class will meet every Thursday for eight (8) weeks in length. The class will be approximately three hours long, meeting from 6:30 pm to 10:00 pm.
 

The goal of the department’s Citizen Police Academy is to enhance communication and understanding between the department and citizens. In an overall approach to community policing, citizens will participate and learn about their police department, its mission and goals, and the men and women of the department who serve the community daily.

Each week, students will learn about different aspects of law enforcement including laws of arrest, patrol techniques, domestic violence and crisis intervention, firearms safety, crime scene management, and traffic enforcement. Students will be given many opportunities for hands-on learning both in and outside the actual classroom.
