Brunswick Police Department
The Patrol Division of the Brunswick Police Department serves as the front line in responding to a wide range of community needs, including criminal incidents, traffic violations, and quality-of-life concerns. Depending on the situation and weather conditions, patrols may be conducted by motor vehicle, boat, bicycle, or on foot.
When not actively responding to calls or completing related reports, officers remain visible in the community—proactively monitoring for criminal activity, motor vehicle infractions, and violations of town ordinances. In addition to enforcement duties, officers consistently seek opportunities to engage with residents in positive, meaningful ways, reinforcing the department's commitment to community-oriented policing.
Our patrol division is divided into three squads, each of which is supervised by a Lieutenant and a Sergeant. A unique aspect of our patrol territory is that it includes miles of coastline and hundreds of acres of productive clam flats. In order to service these areas, in addition to the three squads, we have a marine warden and an assistant to enforce the shellfish laws and ordinances and assist with water rescues.
Additional Assignments include:
- Special Response Team
- K9
- UAS
- Motor Unit
- Crisis Negotiation Team
- Honor Guard
- Crash Reconstruction Unit
- Drug Recognition Expert
Mission Statement
