About the Sonoma Valley Fire District

Patch

Proudly Protecting the Heart of Wine Country

The Sonoma Valley Fire District is the frontline of fire, rescue, and paramedic-level emergency medical services for the vibrant communities of Agua Caliente, Boyes Hot Springs, City of Sonoma, Diamond-A, El Verano, Fetters Hot Springs, Glen Ellen, Mayacamas, Temelec, and Seven Flags.

Serving more than 48,000 residents across 74 square miles — and providing ambulance services to a broader 100-square-mile region — we are ready 24/7 to answer the call.

A United Force for Fire & Rescue Excellence

Born from a powerful legacy of collaboration, the Sonoma Valley Fire District was officially formed on July 1, 2020, bringing together the Valley of the Moon Fire Protection District, Glen Ellen Fire District, and Mayacamas Volunteer Fire Company.

This consolidation eliminated redundancies, strengthened resources, and created one powerful, unified team equipped to serve our diverse and growing communities with faster responses, advanced equipment, and unmatched expertise.

What We Bring to the Fight

  • 4 Career-Staffed Fire Stations + 4 Volunteer-Staffed Stations
  • 6 Companies – Including 4 Paramedic Engine Companies & 2 ALS Ambulances
  • Specialized Equipment: Ladder Truck, 2 Rescues, 3 Water Tenders, 9 Fire Engines (6 wildland engines)
  • 41 Volunteer Firefighters supplementing our professional crews

From wildland fires in our expansive WUI areas to medical emergencies, rescues, and community outreach, we are always ready, always there.

Our Mission: Service. Strength. Community.

We’re more than just emergency responders. We are neighbors, educators, and protectors who proudly provide public safety education, community engagement, and life-saving services to Sonoma Valley.

With a seven-member elected Board of Directors guiding policy and a Fire Chief leading day-to-day operations, our focus is clear: to protect lives, property, and the unique character of our historic valley.
