School Resource Officer (SRO)
Bow Police Department | $10,000 Sign-On Bonus
A Mission Beyond Enforcement: Building Partnerships for the Future
The Bow Police Department is seeking a high-caliber, experienced professional to serve as our next School Resource Officer. We are not just looking for a police officer; we are looking for a mentor, a problem-solver, and a bridge between law enforcement and our community’s youth.
THE OPPORTUNITY
Schedule: Enjoy a consistent Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM schedule during the school year. The SRO will be expected to help patrol as needed and work patrol when school is not in session.
Sign-On Bonus: $10,000.00 for the selected candidate.
Competitive Pay: Compensation is determined by your years of experience and specialized skill set.
Collaborative Selection: The process involves an oral board interview including members of the School Administrative Unit (SAU) to ensure a seamless fit within the school culture.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Foster a Safe Learning Environment: Maintain a visible, approachable, and proactive presence within Bow schools.
Navigate Complexity: Manage the unique complexities of the school environment, balancing legal requirements with the needs of students, faculty, and parents.
Mentorship & Education: Act as a resource on safety and law, building trust-based relationships with the student body.
Strategic Liaison: Work directly with the SAU to develop safety protocols and emergency response plans.
Operational Versatility: While the school is the primary focus, the SRO remains a vital part of our team, assisting Patrol when operational needs arise and transitioning to a Patrol assignment during school vacations and summer break.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: Minimum of three (3) years as a certified police officer.
Standing: Must be an active certified officer in good standing (NH PSTC or equivalent).
Preferred: Prior SRO experience or specialized training in juvenile law is highly preferred, but not necessary.
The "Right Fit": We are looking for an officer who demonstrates exceptional emotional intelligence and the ability to operate independently within a school setting.
