The Branford Police Department, as part of its ongoing hiring campaign, is seeking Connecticut P.O.S.T Certified Officers to fill anticipated full time patrol officer vacancies. Police officers work 40 hours per week picking their shift by a seniority bidding system. The schedule consists of eight-hour shifts, with a rotating schedule 5/2, 5/3 (five days on, two days off, five days on, three days off). The schedule includes working nights, weekends and holidays. Starting salary for Certified Police Officers - $93,329.60 ($98.,529.60 after 2 years). Certified lateral transfers shall receive twelve (12) days of vacation on a pro-rata basis after the completion of FTO. 

All Candidates will be required to successfully complete a written examination, oral interview, the current P.O.S.T physical assessment (Cooper Test) and a Chief's interview.  In addition, candidates must successfully pass a background investigation, polygraph, psychological and medical examination including drug screening.
