CAMBRIDGE POLICE DEPARTMENT
IS NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR

CERTIFIED POLICE OFFICERS

Applicants can be rejected from the hiring process for the following reasons:

  • Convicted of driving while under the influence or intoxicated
  • Serious Motor Vehicle Violations
  • Abuse of Drugs
  • Negative Employment Patterns

GENERAL DUTIES

  • Uniformed Preventive Patrol
  • Crime Prevention Activities
  • Responding to call for service
  • Conducting preliminary investigations of crimes and incidents
  • Arrest and processing of prisoners
  • Traffic direction and control
  • Traffic Accident and Investigation
  • Maintain Public Order
  • Development of positive relationships with the public
  • Completing Police Reports / Filing Criminal Charges

SALARY

  • Maryland Certified Officer starting Salary is $56,000 -$61,960 depending on experience.
  • Please inquire about the $5,000 sign on Bonus

  • Cambridge Police Department is comprised of 48 Sworn officers and 12 Civilian employees

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be a Certified Police Officer in the State of Maryland
    Must be a United States Citizen
  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Must have a High School Diploma or Equivalent recognized by the Maryland State Board of Education
  • Height and Weight in Proportion
  • Must be in good physical condition as determined by a physical examination
  • Must have good vision 20/20 (can be corrected)
  • Possess or be able to obtain a valid Maryland driver’s license
  • Good driving record (must have no more than four current points)
  • Once the above qualifications are met a thorough background investigation will be conducted

HIRING PROCESS

  • Initial Application Process
  • Successful Completion of the Department Physical Agility Testing
  • Successful Completion of the Departments CID Interview
  • Successful Completion of a Background investigation
  • Successful Completion of a Polygraph Examination
  • Successful Completion of a Psychological testing
  • Score well on the Applicant Interview Board
  • Successful completion of the Chief’s Interview
  • Successful Completion of Medical and Drug Testing
  • Academy training
