CHESHIRE POLICE DEPARTMENT
POST CERTIFIED POLICE OFFICER
The Town of Cheshire is accepting applications from POST Certified Police Officers for the position of Police Officer. This will be an open application process and applicants may be contacted when a position becomes available.
Applicants must be a resident of CT, possess a valid CT driver’s license at time of appointment, be a non- smoker, and possess a valid and active CT POST Certification OR an active Connecticut State Police Trooper in good standing, or have retired in good standing and still be able to be certified through the comparative process.

Applicants may be required to either pass the Cooper Standards or have a valid CHIP card.
Applicants will be required to sit for an Oral Panel Examination, take a written examination, and be subject to an extensive background investigation to include, but not necessarily limited to, Polygraph, Psychological, Medical Evaluation, Military/Employment personnel record review, and Chiefs interviews.
The Town of Cheshire offers a competitive salary and benefits package including: paid sick time, paid holidays, paid vacation, a 5/2-5/3 schedule for Patrol Officers, and a defined benefit pension plan.
The Cheshire Police Department also offers additional incentives; shift differential for evening and night shifts, educational incentive, sick time buy back, tuition reimbursement for continued studies related to law enforcement, and provision of all uniforms and equipment. Starting Salary Range (based on years of experience as certified police officer): $77,220.79 to $92,034.14.
