Dover Police Department, MA Public Safety Jobs

 

The Dover Police Department is seeking candidates for the position of Reserve Police Officer. The minimum qualifications are that the candidate must have:

Qualifications: 

  • Successfully completed the MPTC Basic/Reserve Academy;
  • Must be 21 years of age by the time of appointment;
  • hold a minimum of an associate's degree;
  • No felony convictions;
  • Valid driver’s License; and
  • First Responder/CPR Certification.

Preference will be given to candidates living within 20 miles of Dover Massachusetts.

The candidate must be able to pass a thorough background investigation, and physical and psychological examination, if chosen as a candidate.

Reserve officers in the town of Dover have regular assigned shifts (one weekend a month) and are eligible for details and extra shifts per policy. Current rate of pay is $20.06/hr. No benefits. When the town of Dover hires full time officers, they typically promote from the reserve officer ranks, so interest in a full time law enforcement career is desirable.

ABOUT DOVER POLICE DEPARTMENT

The Dover Police Department is a full service police staffed by sixteen full time police officers. They are trained, equipped and ready to handle any type of situation that may manifest itself. The officers do their utmost to prevent crime, educate the public and assist in the resolution of problems. In addition, they stand ready to investigate any of the few crimes that are committed and diligently work to identify those responsible for crime and prosecute them for the offenses. In addition to their singular duties, the department also operates the emergency communications center. They receive calls for a whole host of both emergency and non-emergency public services, including the fire department, ambulance/emt service and the animal control officer, and dispatch the necessary departments to deal with the request. The communications center and department is full staffed seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day.
