The East Cocalico Township Police Department is accepting applications from interested and qualified candidates for the position of police officer. Candidates are requested to submit an application to the ECTPD.  The deadline for receipt of applications is June 1st, 2023 at 1159 p.m.

The ECTPD is seeking candidates who wish to enjoy a work environment dedicated to community service and law enforcement within a values guided police agency.  We are seeking motivated police officers who possess a strong drive for self-initiated police work while operating within a team-based environment.  We are only seeking proactive team players with a high desire to achieve and thrive professionally and on an individual basis.

GENERAL INFORMATION

The East Cocalico Township Police Department has a staff of 16 police officers and 1 civilian support employee. The agency provides 24/7 service to the residents, businesses, and visitors of East Cocalico Township and Denver Borough.  The department is responsible for a jurisdiction containing a population of approximately 15,000. The community consists of a mixture of residential, commercial, manufacturing, and agricultural areas.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Must be twenty-one (21) years of age or older.

Must be able to perform essential job functions and complete a competitive process including but not limited to oral interviews, physical and psychological examination, polygraph examination, and comprehensive background investigation.

Must possess a high school diploma or GED Equivalency.

Must have a valid PA operator's license at the time of application deadline.

Must possess current ACT 120 MPOETC certification at time of appointment to position.

Must be a citizen of the United States.

Must meet or exceed all requirements and conditions for certification under MPOETC Act 120, the East Cocalico Township Police Department Police Officer Job Description, and the ECTPD Selection and Hiring policy.

 

SELECTION PROCEDURE

  • Proper submission and receipt of application
  • Oral Interview with Command Staff provided to a group of applicants
  • Polygraph examination 
  • Background investigation 
  • Medical evaluation 
  • Drug screen
  • Psychological evaluation
  • Final selection will be made from any one of the top three candidates
  • Veteran preference applied to candidates within the top three final positions

 

SALARY AND BENEFITS

  • Competitive salary as provided within the existing CBA.  (2023 starting pay- $55,660)
