CERTIFIED MPTC POLICE OFFICER

Starting salary:

$48,163 – $51,096 (based on level of experience)

Duties: 

Enforcing the laws and ordinances of the State of Maryland and the City of Fruitland.  Preventing, detecting, and investigating crime.  Responding to the scene of a crime or an accident.  Interviewing suspects, witnesses, writing reports, monitoring any suspicious activity of ongoing crimes.  Coordinating vehicle traffic.  Responding to citizens’ and visitors’ questions.  Community policing such as contacting business owners, conducting foot patrols in neighborhoods, and attending special events.

Requirements:

Must be a Maryland Police Training Commission Certified Law Enforcement Officer.  Applicants must meet the following conditions:  physical agility test, polygraph or Voice Stress Analysis, background investigation, medical and mental health evaluations, and a drug screening.  Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license and show proof of graduation from an accredited high school or G.E.D.
