Certified Class II Special Police Officer
The Glen Rock Police Department is currently recruiting for the position of Certified Class II Police Officer
Eligible Candidates:
Certified Class II Special Police Officers Only
At the time of the application, applicants must have:
- Applicants must possess a Class II New Jersey Police Training Commission (PTC) certification or basic course for police officers (Class A certificate) with less than three years of separation from a full-time N.J. law enforcement agency.
In addition, at the time of the application, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- At least 18 and less than 65 years of age at time of appointment.
- A citizen of the United States and a resident of New Jersey at time of appointment.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- No Dishonorable discharge from the United States Military.
- Must not have been convicted of any crime of the first, second, third or fourth degree, as designated by the Criminal Code of New Jersey, or a crime or felony offense in any other jurisdiction that involved moral turpitude or, at the time of application, is undergoing or awaiting court action of any kind in regard to such a crime or felony offense.
- A licensed driver, with a valid New Jersey driver’s license at time of appointment.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Pass the oral interview board and qualify to move forward to an interview with the command level.
- Complete and pass a background investigation.
- Complete and pass a psychological examination.
- Complete and pass a medical examination and drug screening.

Compensation & Schedule:
The hourly rate for a Class II Special Police Officer is $25.00 per hour. This is a part-time position with a maximum schedule of 29 hours per week.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Conducting daytime and early evening foot patrols throughout the Central Business District.
- School traffic crossing posts
- Enforcing parking regulations and addressing related parking / traffic concerns.
- Providing police presence and security at special events.
- Performing other public safety and law enforcement duties as assigned.
The enhanced foot patrol and parking enforcement program in the Borough of Glen Rock is designed to strengthen public safety, increase police visibility, and foster meaningful engagement with the community. The Class II Special Police Officer will play an important role in advancing these objectives by maintaining a visible and proactive presence and helping to ensure a safe, welcoming environment for residents, business owners, employees, and visitors.
