The Kingston Township Police Department is hiring and will be accepting applications for the Police Officer Eligibility List in the near future. Please check back weekly as additional information will be published.  

The Kingston Township Police Department is a Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police Association Accredited (since 2015) police department employing full-time personnel only.

High School Diploma required, higher education preferred; valid Pennsylvania Act 120 Police Officers Certification; minimum twenty-one (21) years of age; valid Pennsylvania Drivers License; and U.S. Citizenship.  Documentation verifying all qualifications must be submitted with application.  In addition, applicants shall not have a criminal record.

Disqualification: There are very few automatic bases for rejection.  Even issues of prior misconduct, such as prior illegal drug use, driving under the influence, theft or even arrest or conviction are usually not, in and of themselves, automatically disqualifying. However, deliberate misstatements or omissions can and often will result in your application being rejected, regardless of the nature or reason for the misstatements/omissions. In fact, the number one reason individuals "fail" background investigations is because they deliberately withhold or misrepresent job-related information from their employer. 

                **Candidates who receive a conditional offer of employment may be subject to truth verification analysis, i.e. computer voice stress analysis or CVSA.

The current Kingston Township Collective Bargaining Agreement includes the starting salary of $40,130 an increase after six (6) months to $45,377, and annual increases until base salary is reached in addition to years of service increases. The base salary of a Police Officer with five or more years of service with the Department in 2023 will be $71,469. The Bargaining Unit member shall be required to establish residence within ten (10) air miles of the nearest Kingston Township border within thirty-six (36) months after date of hire.           

Completed applications must be submitted online via by Friday, October 02, 2020 before 3:00 pm.  physical agility test will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at 10:00 am, The test will be based on M.P.O.E.T.C. graduation standards and will be held at the Kingston Township Sports Complex at 180 East Center Street, Shavertown, PA. Successful candidates will proceed to a written examination to be administered on Saturday, October 24, 2020 at 10:00 am at the Kingston Township Administration Building.
