POLICE SERGEANT

 Salary Range: $55,537 - $72,961 (DOE)

Base work week is 42 hours (4-10 ½ hour shifts)

The Littleton Police Department is searching for an experienced and committed police professional who possesses outstanding leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills to serve the Littleton community. Under general supervision, the Police Sergeant is responsible for supervision, assignments, and reviews officers work; ensures regulations, policies and general orders are followed; advises and assists in patrol, investigation and desk supervisory operations. Performs complex and responsible law enforcement supervision and planning. In addition, responds to major crimes, accident scenes, and emergencies and assumes initial command; responds to and resolves inquiries and complaints; and performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned. The Sergeant is a member of the Supervisory Staff within the Department and works under the direct supervision of the Police Captain and the general supervision of the Deputy Chief of Police.

Eligibility requirements include:

Eligibility requirements will include a minimum of (5) five years of progressive law enforcement experience, demonstrated leadership abilities, excellent oral and written communication skills as well as a high degree of motivation, innovation, creative problem solving, loyalty and dedication.  Minimum of an Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice, Police Science or related field preferred.  Training and experience other than post-secondary education and law enforcement will be considered. 

The selection process will consist of:

A written examination, physical fitness test, an external assessment and an executive interview.
