The Town of South Windsor is accepting applications for CT POST Certified Police Officers. You MUST have received a CPCA written score above 70 as a prerequisite to apply to the South Windsor Police Department.

The South Windsor Police Department is a proactive and progressive law enforcement agency with a focus on community policing and problem solving. Officers can work in numerous special assignments including Investigations, Traffic, Vice & Narcotics, Youth Services, and participate in various regional teams such as Metro Traffic Services, and the Capitol Region Emergency Services Team (SWAT-Negotiators-Dive). The hiring of a police officer is a multiple phase process. Generally, it includes the following:

  1. Application via (online)
  2. CPCA Written Exam (minimum 70% score required)
  3. Oral Interview Panel (minimum 70% score required)
  4. Personal History Questionnaire
  5. Polygraph Examination
  6. Psychological Evaluation
  7. Background Investigation
  8. Physical Exam, Drug Screen, Stress Test
  9. Interview with Chief of Police

Additional Notes: 

Grooming Standards- Tattoos & Piercings:  Updated January 20, 2017: 
The South Windsor Police Department does not permit facial piercings to be worn on duty and only female officers are permitted to wear 1 pair of small stud type earrings while on duty. 
Tattoos are now acceptable provided: they are not offensive in nature and can be covered while on duty.  No visible tattoos are permitted on hands, neck or face that would be visible while in uniform except for a single "wedding band style" tattoo on the ring finger of the left hand.
