UPPER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP
POLICE OFFICER
The Department consists of 17 full-time police officers. The Department has strong community policing values while it proactively addresses public safety issues. The UMTPD is an accredited agency through the Pennsylvania Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission and adheres to the current best accepted practices for law enforcement agencies.
Various UMTPD officers are trained to specialize in Motor Carrier Safety, DUI enforcement, narcotics interdiction, accident investigation, traffic enforcement, crime scene processing, firearms instruction. The Department also has officers who participate in the Central Bucks Emergency Response Team which is designed for emergency responses to tactical situations and high-risk warrant services
General qualifications for the position of police officer at the time of application are:
- Citizen of the United States or evidence to show naturalization as a USA citizen.
- Twenty-one years of age or older at the time of application.
- Graduated from an accredited high school / or GED Certificate.
- Have a minimum of 60 credits from an accredited college or university. (Bachelor’s degree preferred)
- Successfully completed or currently attending ACT 120 training. (Municipal Police Officers’ Education and Training)
- Shall be physically, medically, and psychologically fit for the performance of the duties of a police officer and shall be of high moral character.
- Licensed to operate an automobile in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
- Must be able to meet the essential duties of a police officer.
- Pass background investigation.
UMTPD offers a competitive salary to include the following:
- Starting rate of $29.41 hourly (required to work 72 hours within a 2 week period with potential for more)
