ACT 120 Certified Police Officer
The West Hempfield Township Police Department is accepting applications for the position of fulltime Police Officer.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- 21 years of age or older by the date of employment
- Must have successfully completed ACT 120 training or currently enrolled in ACT 120 training.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
- Possess a valid PA driver’s license (out of state applicants must possess a valid PA driver’s license at time of employment)
- Free of any state or federal criminal convictions that are punishable by more than 1 year imprisonment
- Free of any convictions of any crime enumerated in the PA Uniform Firearms Act of 1995
- Free of any convictions of any crime enumerated in 18 PA C.S., Chapter 61
- Be able to perform all of the essential functions, duties and responsibilities of a Police Officer, with or without reasonable accommodations, in accordance with the Essential Duties and Responsibilities for West Hempfield Township Police Officers.
APPLICANTS MUST
- Undergo a rigorous background investigation to include, but not limited to the following: Criminal history, driving history, financial & credit history, employment &discipline history, military & discipline history, education and personal references
- Undergo a physical / medical examination
- Undergo a psychological examination
- Successfully pass review by an oral review board
- Accept the terms and conditions of the “Pre-Employment Agreement” and
- Undergo any other examination or screening process as deemed necessary
ABOUT US
The West Hempfield Township Police Department is a 21 Officer Police Department including the Chief of Police, with one Police Administrative Support personnel. Under the leadership of Chief Lisa Layden, we are a progressive and professional police department, focused on serving the community. Our Officers and personnel embrace the best practices of police service and the latest technology to achieve these goals.
Our Police Department currently has Officers assigned to the following:
- Drug Task Force
- Lancaster County Crash Team, which investigates serious and fatal crashes
- Criminal Investigation Division, which includes a full time Detective Sergeant and Detective
- Certified Drone Pilots who assist in mapping and photographing major crime scenes and crashes, within Lancaster County
- Certified Bicycle Patrol Officers, who not only participate in community events, but also patrol parks and neighborhoods
