General Statement of Job 

Finance Generalist II is a position that performs a variety of simple to moderately complex accounting, bookkeeping, and clerical duties. Among other duties, this person will primarily be responsible for assisting with payroll processing, scheduling and reconciliations between payroll systems. This position requires a moderate amount of data entry and regular interaction with coworkers from all agency departments either in person, by telephone, or email. A working knowledge and application of customer service, basic accounting, and bookkeeping practices and procedures will be required.


Minimum Qualifications 

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or other relevant major.
  • Or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required competencies to perform the job.

Essential Job Functions 

  • Performs routine and repetitive accounting work within an assigned work unit using ADG and Aladtec payroll/scheduling software.
  • Monitors and reviews payroll department email account, answering inquiries or directing to the appropriate recipient.
  • Creates employee payroll profiles and updates employee work schedules.
  • Processes all changes in source data for assigned accounts upon verification of information.
  • Takes care of requests for timecard submission/approvals, leave and extra hours approvals, and corresponding updates.
  • Reconciles and updates leave balances, keeping both payroll systems current and accurate for employee reference.
  • Maintains electronic records, reports, files and related documentation for payroll processing activities.
  • Compiles reports and documentation for internal department audits.
  • Assist auditors with records or related information for year-end closing activities.
  • Establishes and maintains effective interdepartmental communications to promote efficiency and consistency with agency mission, goals, and objectives.
  • Responds to public information requests in both oral and written form.
  • Regular and prompt job attendance.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

  • Basic accounting and bookkeeping methods, techniques, practices, and procedures.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 to complete work assignments, especially Excel.
  • Knowledge of general office procedures and customer service.
  • Ability to operate office equipment (fax, copier, mail, scanner, etc.).
  • Should be comfortable discussing money and financial matters.
  • Must be able to perform in a team environment.
  • The ability to speak clearly and calmly on the telephone.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent verbal communications skills.
  • Ability to work in a shared office space with a moderate noise level environment and multiple personnel.

Standards to Perform Job Functions 

Physical Requirements:

Sit up to 7 hours per day

Stand up to 1 hour per day

Walk up to 1 hours per day

Occasionally lift up to 10 lbs.

Bend, squat, climb, reach, kneel, and/or twist.
