POLICE DEPARTMENT
FULL-TIME POLICE DISPATCHER JOB POSTING

The Litchfield Police Department is currently seeking a dedicated full-time Police Dispatcher. This is a non-sworn position responsible for a variety of critical tasks that support both police officers and the community.

Responsibilities:

Answering and dispatching emergency and non-emergency calls for service via phone, radio, and computer.
Utilizing the computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system and NCIC/SPOTS terminal.
Managing police records and providing information to officers, town agencies, and the public.
Acting as a crucial communication link between officers in the field and the resources they need.
Interacting with members of the public who come into the police station's lobby for assistance or to file a report.
Handling sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED equivalent
U.S. Citizenship
Strong typing and computer skills
Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
 

Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications are selected on a competitive basis.  To be considered for this position, applicants must successfully complete a selection process that may include:

A written examination
An oral board interview
Assessment of writing and keyboard skills
A skills assessment for writing and keyboard proficiency
Successful completion of requisite certification(s)
Compensation & Benefits:

This position offers a starting salary range of $23.52 - $29.53 per hour, based on experience. We also offer a robust benefits package in accordance with the Litchfield Police Collective Bargaining Agreement with the American Federation of State, County, Federation, and Municipal Council Employees Council 93, Chapter 3657, which includes:

Health and dental insurance.
Earned time off.
Participation in the New Hampshire Retirement System (Group 1).
The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday, 07:00-15:00 or 15:00-23:00, with weekends and holidays off (unless rare circumstances require otherwise).
