Public Safety Dispatcher (Telecommunicator): Collective Bargaining Position:

The Southington Police Department is seeking a full time Public Safety Dispatcher to work within the Southington Police Department Communications Division.  Dispatchers are required to dispatch Police, Fire, and provide EMD Services. Minimum Application Qualifications:

• State of Connecticut Certified Telecommunicator
• State of Connecticut COLLECT Certification
• State of Connecticut E911 Certified
• Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a G.E.D.
• Be a citizen of the United States of America.
• Possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.

 

Certified Telecommunicator Application Process:

• • This Process will close March of 2025 or until position is filled

• Oral Panel Test
• Background Investigation
• Resume Review
• Command Staff Interview
• Board of Police Commissioners Review 

 

Probationary Employee Qualification/State Certifications (after employment):

• Power Phone Emergency Medical Dispatching Certification
• All State of Connecticut Public Safety Computer Reference Systems.
• Nexgen Public Safety CAD/RMS dispatching software
