BRISTOL ENTRY LEVEL POLICE OFFICER - PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE ANNOUNCEMENT & PRINT FOR REFERENCE
The City of Bristol is accepting applications for Police Officer testing to establish an eligibility list to fill current and future vacancies. The expected duration of the selection process is estimated to be a minimum of three (3) months to a maximum of two and one half (2 ½) years. Initial testing requires possession of a CHIP Certificate (physical ability exam) successful completion of a written and oral examination. Additionally, successfully passing a psychological, medical exam including drug screen, polygraph examination and extensive background investigation are required prior to hire.
CURRENT SALARY RANGE: $78,813 - $95,800/year.
Eff. 07-01-26 increases to $80,783 - $98,195/year.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AT TIME OF APPLICATION:
-Must be 21 years of age to attend Police Academy -High School Diploma or GED -United States Citizen

TESTING REQUIREMENT:
WRITTEN EXAM: The written exam will be administered directly by the City of Bristol on September 11, 2025. You will receive an email invite on 12-08-25 to confirm your attendance. Must pass the written exam to move onto the next phase.
VETERANS PREFERENCE: Deadline to submit copy of Form DD-214 Member-4 is either online with application submission, or in person at the written exam test on 12-11-25. Failure to provide adequate paperwork by the written test date will forfeit your eligibility to receive veteran’s points. 5 points will be added to a final passing score (maximum score = 100 points) for veterans who have completed a minimum of 90 days of active military service, in a non-training status, with an honorable discharge or a discharge under honorable conditions.
ORAL EXAMINATION: Upon passing the written exam you will be invited to the oral exam phase. You will receive an email invite (on or about 12-16-25) to schedule your oral examination appointment. The oral examination phase will occur starting December 22, 2025 with additional days added as needed.
NOTE: After a candidate successfully passes BOTH the WRITTEN and ORAL EXAM portions, they will be placed on the Eligibility List.
