FULL TIME POLICE OFFICERS
Written Test is at 6:30 p.m. at Ephrata Middle School on September 3, 2024.
Physical Fitness Assessment is at 8:45 a.m. at Reading Police Academy on September 4, 2024.

The Ephrata Police Department serves the four municipalities of Ephrata Borough, Ephrata Township, West Cocalico Township, and Adamstown Borough and covers a total jurisdiction of approximately 49 square miles and serves approximately 33,700 residents in Northern Lancaster County.

SALARY AND BENEFIT HIGHLIGHTS

Salary while in the academy if uncertified: $63,509.

Start certified no experience: $73,131.

Start with 2 years of full time experience as certified police officer: $85,651.

Top patrol officer pay in 2025: $104,814. 2027: $112,344

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS
-
Must be at least 21 years of age by close of application period, August 19, 2024.

Must possess a diploma as proof of graduation from an accredited high school or have a graduate equivalent diploma.

Must be a United States citizen.
-
Must possess a valid driver’s license.
-
Must be physically and mentally fit to perform the full duties of a police officer. (To be determined by a medical examination/drug screen, psychological evaluation & physical fitness test)

Must successfully pass a written examination.

Must successfully pass an oral interview process.
-
Must successfully pass a polygraph examination.
-
Must successfully pass a comprehensive background investigation.

Must meet the minimum qualifications for police officer certification established by the

Pennsylvania Municipal Police Officer Training and Education Commission.

Must reside within a twenty five (25) mile radius of the Ephrata Borough line within three (3) months of completing their probationary period.

Must provide truthful and non-misleading information on identity papers and must have documented proof of work eligibility.
