The Glen Rock Police Department is now hiring a Part Time Special Law Enforcement Officer (SLEO), Class I. Applicants need not possess an NJ PTC Certification to apply. Applicants must apply online via PoliceApp.com; application fees are non-refundable.
A Special Law Enforcement Officer Class I is a part time member of the Police Department. The SLEO Class I may be scheduled for not more than twenty (20) hours per week, except in the case of an emergency. Flexibility in scheduling and availability on Holidays, such as July 4th, are essential.
Starting Salary $ 15 per hour.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Parking Enforcement
- Traffic Control
- Park and Recreation Facility Checks
- School Checks, School Traffic and School Tour Checks
- Foot Patrols in Central Business District
- Supplementary Vehicular Patrols of the Community
- Traffic enforcement details
- Crowd and Traffic Control at Public Events
- Any other duties assigned by a supervisor.
Class One Special Law Enforcement Officers are authorized to perform routine traffic detail, spectator control and similar duties. Class One Officers shall have the power to issue summonses for disorderly persons and petty disorderly persons offenses, violations of municipal ordinances and violations of Title 39 of the Revised Statutes. The use of a firearm by an officer of this class shall be strictly prohibited and no Class One Officer shall be assigned any duties which may require the carrying or use of a firearm.
