CITY OF HAVRE POLICE DEPARTMENT
Patrol Officer
Duties:
Officers will patrol to enforce federal, state, city laws; make arrests, handle complaints, provide assistance in all manners of situations and be able to render basic first aid. Officers will also investigate and preserve crime scenes as well as handle evidence; write reports; protect citizens and deter criminal activity. Officers may deal with domestic abuse, thefts, disorderly conduct, sexual abuse, criminal mischief, criminal trespass, death investigations, sexual assaults, DUI's, drugs, juveniles, parking complaints, motor vehicle accidents and issue traffic citations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION
- Be at least 18 years of age

- Able to obtain Montana Driver’s License. Please email a copy of your Driver's License to kmckay@ci.havre.mt.us
- No felonies or serious misdemeanors
- Good moral character
- Be able to complete a standardized mental health and physical fitness exam and background investigation.
- Be able to pass both the MPAT physical testing and the Police Officer Selection Test.
NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to achieve POST certification within one year of date of hire.
- Ability to qualify with specific duty weapons.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, and the public.
- Ability to handle interpersonal situations and have problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to serve the community.

The Havre Police Department has 20 sworn officers and is the 8th largest municipal police department in the State of Montana. Our Police Department is very progressive and has incorporated the popular philosophy of community policing throughout the Department. The men and women who provide police service to Havre residents and visitors are committed to protecting life, property and working together with those we serve to improve the quality of life in our community. Havre is home to several recreational areas. Fresno Reservoir is a short drive to the west; Beaver Creek Park is to the south these two areas provide great fishing and camping opportunities. The Bear’s Paw Mountains and surrounding areas provide many areas of world class hunting as well as several hiking and biking options.
