POSITION OVERVIEW

The Police officer performs a variety of duties and tasks related to the protection of life, limb and property. The Police officer conducts investigations and patrols assigned areas, makes arrests, searches for suspects or missing persons, performs traffic enforcement activities, identifies and collects evidence, prepares offense reports and other documentation, testifies in court, depositions and hearings, performs public service functions including security checks, provides assistance and information to the public, assists other governmental agencies, assists and transports mentally impaired or intoxicated persons, responds to a wide variety of emergency and non-emergency calls for service.

The most important and essential job function of the position is attitude and includes the following: getting along with co-workers, cooperating with co-workers, responding politely to customers, working as a team member, functioning under intense time pressure and responding in a positive manner to supervision. The member may perform other related duties and tasks, as required and shall have the physical, mental and emotional abilities to perform the essential job duties of the position.

SALARY

Salary range is $44,000 to $53,000 based on a 42 hour work week. 

OUR DEPARTMENT

The Lincoln Police Department has received national recognition through the Commission for Law Enforcement Accreditation. We are now in the process of applying to be a fully accredited agency by meeting national standards in Law Enforcement. In 2004 the Lincoln Police department was honored to receive the Robert Trojanowicz Memorial Reward for the best community policing in New England for communities under 15,000. The award was presented by the New England Community Police Partnership.
