PENNINGTON BOROUGH POLICE DEPARTMENT
FULL TIME POLICE OFFICER
The physical fitness test will be held in October: interviews will be conducted immediately after. Fully certified candidates will be interviewed on a rolling basis.
The Pennington Borough Police Department is currently seeking candidates for immediate hire for the position of probationary police officer. This job posting is for certified and non-certified candidates.
Non-certified candidates will be required to participate in a physical fitness test which will consist of push-ups, sit-ups, a 300-meter run and a 1.5-mile run. Candidates who possess a basic course for police officer certification and alternate route recruits currently attending a PTC approved police academy will be exempt from the PT test and will be advanced to the interview phase. Waiver eligible class 2 certifications will be accepted but must participate in the PT test. Corrections certifications will not be accepted. The PT test will be conducted in October.
We are seeking candidates who are highly motivated, proactive and interested in working in a close-knit, community-oriented police department. Candidates are implored to begin preparing for the physical fitness test now. Do not call the police department with questions relating to this process.

Eligibility Requirements
- Must be a resident of New Jersey and a citizen of the United States.
- Possess a valid New Jersey driver’s license at the time of application.
- Must be between 18 and 35 years of age at the time of appointment.
- Shall have graduated from high school or possess a General Equivalency Degree (GED).
- Ability to perform all the tasks and duties of a Police Officer as per NJ PTC requirements.
- No indictable criminal history conviction and of good moral character.
