SOUTHBOROUGH POLICE DEPARTMENT HIRING PROCESS FOR THREE (3) POLICE OFFICERS

The Southborough Police Department is accepting applications to fill multiple Full-time Police Officer positions: One (1) position immediately, with an additional two (2) proactive positions available in February-April.
We are seeking individuals who are highly motivated, self-disciplined, and possess a strong interest in community policing philosophy. We invest in our officers through comprehensive training, mental health support, and leadership development.
New and Approved Contract with Mass Cop Local 167.
Starting salary range for patrol officer: $67,832 - $110,735. (Range includes Quinn Bill & Shift Diff. ).

Certified officers are strongly encouraged to apply. Lateral officers will receive starting pay and benefits based on their prior law enforcement experience. Certified Officer’s years of service can count towards SPD’s vacation accruals. SPD officers earn up to seven (7) weeks of vacation.
Minimum requirements:
- U.S. citizen
- At least 21 years of age
- High School graduate or GED (college degree in criminal justice or related field preferred)
- Possess a valid Driver’s License & LTC
- Must have a clean criminal record — no felony convictions, no disqualifying misdemeanors.
- Must be able to receive and maintain certification by the Massachusetts P.O.S.T. commission.
- Must be able to pass all required testing and screening, including:
- Physical abilities/fitness assessment
- Psychological evaluation
- Medical/physical exam with drug testing
Hiring Process:
- Structured oral board interviews
- Conditional offer of employment
- Extensive background investigation including employment history, criminal record, driving history, financial review, and social media screening
- Physical fitness evaluation (PAT) meeting statewide standards
- Medical exam and drug screening in compliance with MGL and POST requirements
- Psychological suitability exam
- Attendance and successful completion of a full-time Massachusetts POST-approved police academy (unless already certified)

Lateral Transfer or Full-Time MPTC Police Academy Training strongly preferred but not required for ideal candidates. Cadets currently attending a full-time academy are encouraged to apply, as well as past applicants.
