WESTWOOD POLICE DEPARTMENT

IS NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR

POLICE OFFICER

THE WRITTEN TEST LOCATION IS 55 JEFFERSON AVENUE WESTWOOD N.J. 07675. APPLICANTS SHOULD ARRIVE 30-45 MINUTES BEFORE THE TEST FOR CHECK IN. THE TEST DATE IS MONDAY JUNE 06, 2022 AT 6:00PM. SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE(S) WILL ATTEND THE JULY 2022 CLASS AT THE BERGEN COUNTY LAW AND PUBLIC SAFETY INSTITUTE, SHOULD THEY NOT BE ALREADY CERTIFIED.

There is no test prep booklet available.  The test will be administered by the NJ State Association of Chiefs of Police.

The Borough of Westwood Police Department is seeking qualified men and women to join its ranks. The Westwood Police Department currently serves a population of 11,000 within its 2.3 square miles.

MINIMUM ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT

• Must be between eighteen (18) and thirty-four (34) years of age.

• Must be a citizen of the United States and a resident of the State of New Jersey at time of appointment.

• Must possess a valid driver’s license.  Must possess a State of New Jersey driver’s license at time of appointment.

• Must be of good moral character, and must not have been convicted of any criminal offense.

• Must possess at a minimum an Associates Degree, OR equivalent in college credits from an accredited college or university OR;

• In lieu of the educational requirement must possess Veteran’s status and have been honorably discharged from the armed services.

The Westwood Police Department is a Title 40A:14-118 agency created by the governing body of the municipality. It provides a line of authority relating to the police function and for the adoption and promulgation by the appropriate authority of rules and regulations for the government of the force and for the discipline of its members. Therefore, all phases of the recruitment, selection, and hiring process for entry level law enforcement positions conform to the rules and regulations established by Title 40A:14-118, municipal ordinance, poliicy & procedure and the NJSACOP Accreditation Program.
