Job Announcement:

The City of Ruidoso Downs is seeking an experienced law enforcement professional for its next Chief of Police. Successful candidate must be able to perform administrative and technical skilled duties related to planning, organizing, directing, staffing, and coordinating police services. The police chief reports directly to the mayor. A bachelor’s degree in police science, criminal justice or related field is required. A combination of education and experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position will be accepted on a year-for-year basis.  Advanced leadership training such as FBI National Academy, Staff and Command, Senior Management Institute Police (SMIP) or equivalent is preferred. The police chief shall have a New Mexico Law Enforcement Certification or the ability to obtain a certification by waiver within one year of appointment. The salary for this position is $80,000 to  $85,000 annually. The City of Ruidoso Downs offers a comprehensive benefit package.
