About the McCordsville Police Department

Patch

The McCordsville Police Department serves a rapidly growing community of approximately 16,000 residents in northwestern Hancock County. McCordsville is located just south of Geist Reservoir and borders Fishers and Lawrence. The town is also conveniently located near Indianapolis and provides quick access to I-69, I-70, I-465, and State Road 234.

McCordsville continues to experience significant residential and commercial growth while maintaining a close-knit community atmosphere. The town offers several parks, walking trails, youth sports, community events, and recreational programs. McCord Square, the town’s new community center and downtown area, includes public gathering areas, a lake, walking trails, and space for future restaurants, retail, entertainment, and community events. Residents also have access to the Mt. Vernon Community School Corporation and are within a short drive of the shopping, dining, entertainment, and medical services available throughout the Indianapolis metropolitan area.

The McCordsville Police Department is a full-service municipal law enforcement agency with approximately 20 sworn officers. Due to the department’s size, officers have the opportunity to handle a wide variety of calls and investigations while becoming directly involved in the community they serve. Officers are not limited to one narrow area of police work and may have opportunities to participate in criminal investigations, field training, school resource duties, tactical operations, evidence technology, community outreach, recruiting, and instructor assignments.

The department operates from a modern, 18,000-square-foot police headquarters that includes an on-site fitness facility, indoor firearms training facility, modern interview rooms, training space, and updated technology. The department also offers a take-home vehicle program, modern equipment, continued training, specialty-pay opportunities, and the ability for officers to take an active role in the department’s continued growth.

McCordsville provides candidates with a unique opportunity to join a growing department where officers can develop professionally, build strong relationships within the community, and have a meaningful impact on the future of the agency.
