ABOUT US

One of the most progressive Departments in Fairfield County in the areas of continuous training, special services to the community and technology.  The Monroe Police Department, a state of Connecticut  Police Officers Standards and Training Council Accredited department is now recruiting for open positions for entry level police officer.

New recruits can look forward to personal and professional growth. Entry-level officers receive intensive training at the Police Officer Standards and Training Council (POSTC) Academy in all areas of the police field.  After successful completion of core training, entry-level officers will be assigned to undergo a required ten-week block of field training.  Salary range is $56,955 to $71,998.  An entry-level officer will be required to complete a probationary period of one year after graduation from the POSTC Academy.  After completion of one year of service, an employee is entitled to two weeks of paid vacation.  Uniforms and service equipment are provided by the Department, as well as an annual cleaning allowance.  Tuition assistance is also available, as well as college incentive pay.  Each employee receives 12 paid holidays in each fiscal year.

The Monroe Police Department has several specialized divisions, including Detective Division, Youth Unit, Accident Reconstruction, Regional Emergency Response Team, Bicycle Patrol, lake patrol as well as community policing initiatives.  Body Worn Cameras were  introduced in 2017.   

All Monroe Police Officers are members of the Monroe Police Union, Council 4, AFL-CIO.  Employees and their dependents are eligible for coverage under the Town’s Health Insurance Plans, and a comprehensive group dental insurance plan is also offered.  The patrol schedule is 5 days on, 3 days off then 5 days on, 2 days off.
