SHERIFF'S DEPUTY / CORRECTION'S OFFICER

NEXT TESTING DATE:  JULY 1, 2023 at 9am

Testing for this position will be held at the above date and time at the Desoto Parish Sheriff's Office Training Center located at 120 Sprocket Ln., Grand Cane, LA 71032.  

Minimum Requirements

  • Must be 21
  • Possess a valid Louisiana Driver's License
  • Be a United States Citizen
  • Must have earned a High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • No felony convictions

 

Job description/General Duties

Job descriptions vary based on which division is applied for however, all enforcement positions (Patrol & Corrections) require Louisiana POST Academy certification. Lateral hires are allowed if Louisiana POST Certification is current and valid. All others will be sent to a Louisiana POST approved academy after being hired. Continued employment is contingent upon successful completion of the academy.

 

Salary

  • Patrol / Corrections Entry Level: $30,500 yr.
  • Patrol / Corrections POST Certified: $50,500 yr
