The Clark County Sheriff's Office is now accepting applications for the position of Deputy Sheriff
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Maintain and exhibit discretion and integrity at all times when handling confidential information.
- Interview /accept applications and associated documentation of CCW applicants.
- Request criminal background checks from BC&I, FBI and CCSO/LEADS, Determine eligibility (examination of background checks) for issuance of CCW permits.
- Issue, deny, suspend or revoke CCW permits.
- Complete monthly validations for correct information entered into LEADS.
- Complete quarterly statistics report for the Attorney General’s Office
- Reconcile BC&I monthly billing invoice fees with BC&I fingerprint entry codes.
- Order material related to maintenance of office equipment ie; card printer, copier, etc.
- Fingerprint CCW applicants.
- Apply knowledge of O.R.C. 2923.125 and related codes pertaining to Concealed Handgun Licensing.
- Interact favorably with the public as it pertains to CCW.
- Operate the ‘Card Exchange Producer’ software.
- Create and issue department ID badges
- Organize over 10,000+ CCW files.
- Deciphers background checks to determine qualifications for CCW permits.
- Ability to answer varying CCW questions to whomever asks
- Assist Lieutenant, Sergeants, Deputies, and individuals from other agencies as needed and requested
- Sort, file, record, and input data or information.
- To testify truthfully in all Courts in the State of Ohio.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Proficient writing skills.
- Interpersonal skills.
- Reading comprehension.
- Maintain professional behavior and attitude at all times when on duty, including high pressure or stressful situations.
- Operate a motor vehicle.
- Any other duties assigned by the Sheriff.
- Must exhibit high moral and ethical standards.
QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
MISSION:
Each member of the Clark County Sheriff’s Office will provide services with compassion, impartially enforce the laws, preserve the peace, reduce the fear of crime and develop working partnerships within our community to build trust.
PREFERRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Prior Office experience preferred.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Associate’s degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Documented and demonstrated academic achievements preferred. College preferred.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, prepare business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Have the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages as well as draw and interpret bar graphs.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Ohio Drivers License (Valid, not under suspension)
- Documented and demonstrated academic achievement.
- Must be competent in the use of computers
- Must show proficiency in the standard reporting system.
- Prior Office experience preferred.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
