Job Announcement:

Prepares a variety of legal documents, such as case orders, summons, and statements; applies knowledge of legal proceedings and Court policies to prepare legal documents; distributes to appropriate parties; and maintains copies in department files.
Enters legal information into department databases and automated files, including; citations, tickets, warrants, and other information into department databases; updates database information; creates new spreadsheets/files; and purges old data as appropriate.
Prepares correspondence and informational materials such as court calendars, and court notices.
Receives telephone calls and walk-in customers, visitors, attorneys, defendants, and the general public; provides information and assistance; explains procedures; provides copies of legal proceedings and status; and refers difficult questions and complaints to appropriate staff member.
Receives and processes payments for fees, fines, or other legal fees; records payment; updates databases to reflect payment; issues receipts; and prepares monies for deposit.
Receives and processes petitions for legal administrations; and records petitions after orders are signed by the judge and letters have been issued.
For court cases, prepares case files; posts cases for court dockets; prepares case files; ensures judge has appropriate case information for hearing; files disposition documents; prepares files for transfers; and maintains files.
Distributes legal documents such as court rulings, continuances, warrants and other legal records; types letters, summaries and correspondence; prepares folders; maintains department files; photocopies documents and distributes and/or files.
Establishes and maintains court files and official legal records; and requests information from other departments as necessary to complete department records/files.
May supervise clerical staff as assigned.
Orders office supplies as requested; and receives, stores, and delivers documents, office supplies, and records.
Operates a personal computer, telephones, copiers and other general office equipment as necessary to complete essential functions, to include the use of word processing, spreadsheet, database, or other system software.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS
Performs other related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED; supplemented by up to two (2) years of previous clerical experience in a legal environment; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
