PEACH COUNTY, GEORGIA
PURPOSE OF CLASSIFICATION
The purpose of this classification is to direct the programs, services, staff and resources of the Sheriff’s Office E-911 center.
JOB SUMMARY
Plans, develops and directs department programs, services, resources and staff and work schedules. Establishes call intake protocols. Ensures that operations comply with policies, procedures and related regulations. Directs the implementation of programs and services through subordinate supervisors and staff. Monitors and evaluates department programs, services and operations. Assesses department effectiveness and performance. Manages quality assurance and quality improvement initiatives; analyzes operational statistics and staffing needs. Identifies and implements changes to maximize use of resources and achieve goals and objectives. Plans, prepares and implements communications plans for disasters and other emergency situations. Manages department financial resources. Ensures proper maintenance and repair of all communications equipment. Supervises, directs and evaluates assigned staff. Conduct employee performance appraisals, address employee concerns, and administer discipline as needed. Prepares all applicable operational and statistical reports to present to the Sheriff and other applicable municipal departments. Establishes and maintains partnerships and effective working relationships with other departments, agencies, and professional organizations; and collaborates with other agencies to maximize resources, responsiveness and effectiveness. Performs public relations and communications work for the department; prepares news releases and other communication materials; resolves citizen complaints; and responds to media requests for information. Directs the establishment and management of department records, files and databases; and ensures effective administration of databases and MSAG. Operates a personal computer, radios, telephones and general office equipment as necessary to complete essential functions, to include the use of word processing, spreadsheet, database, or other system software. As needed, engages in telecommunication operator duties which involves receiving incoming phone calls to the E911, dispatching emergency response and/or law enforcement personnel as appropriate, preparing related records and documentation, etc. Performs other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Associate degree with course work emphasis in emergency communications, telecommunications or a related field; supplemented by minimum five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in emergency communication services; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess Georgia driver’s license.
