MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Be a U.S. citizen
- Be a resident of NJ
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Possess a valid New Jersey driver’s license
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Must be of sound moral character verified by a background investigation
- No criminal background. All successful candidates must pass a comprehensive background investigation which includes fingerprints, a medical examination and a drug test by urinalysis
- Must work flexible hours and be able to perform all essential job functions for a police officer
- Be physically capable of performing the functions of the position in accordance with the Police Training Commission (PTC)

Job Description/General Duties:
The Margate City Police Department is seeking to hire for the position of SLEO II. We are looking to hire energetic, dedicated and hardworking individuals who have a passion for community policing. We currently employ 29 Sworn Police Officers, 9 Civilian Employees and approximately 10 Crossing Guards. We offer competitive benefits and salary as well as excellent training and equipment.
SLEO II Responsibilities:
- Provide police services to residents and visitors 24/7, including emergent and non-emergent calls for service
- Assist patrol officers with general duties associated with the patrol function
- Responding to calls for service in accordance with department policies
- Transport and maintain control of prisoners
- Provide court security
- Any other duties related to the proper functioning and operation of the Margate City Police Department.
