CLASS II SPECIAL POLICE OFFICER

The Florence Township Police Department is recruiting for the position of Class II Special Police Officer.  We are seeking energetic, enthusiastic, and hard-working individuals for our Police Department. 

The SLEO II Officers will also be enrolled in our paid field training officer program and upon successful completion, they will be utilized to supplement patrol shifts and conduct traffic enforcement.  The hours for the position will vary depending on the need.  The position is assigned a rate of $25.00 per hour with the ability to work extra duty security and traffic details.

Candidates must possess a P.T.C certification as a Class II Special Police Officer (or wavier eligible) and have the ability to perform the essential job functions of a Police Officer.  Candidates must be a graduate from a senior high school or shall have had formal education or training showing attainment of the level represented by graduation from senior high school. All successful candidates must pass a comprehensive background investigation which includes fingerprints, a medical examination and a drug test by urinalysis as well as a psychological examination where applicable.  A negative result on a drug test by urinalysis is a condition of employment.   Applicants must also have the ability to read, write and speak the English language well and be of good moral character.  Applicants must be a resident of the State of New Jersey and have a valid New Jersey driver’s license.
