$5,000.00 Hiring Bonus (to be paid upon successful completion of probationary period)
Tiered Salary (dependent on completed years of P.O.S.T. service):
0 to 12 completed months:........................................... $58,683.00
13 completed months to 24 completed months:............ $67,341.00
25 completed months – 36 completed months:............. $72,290.00
37 completed months – 48 completed months:............. $77,763.00
Over 48 completed months:.......................................... $83,331.00
Minimum Requirements
- Must be an active P.O.S.T. certified Police Officer in the State of Rhode Island or other state to apply
- Must be 21 years of age by the end of the application period
- Must possess at least a H.S. or G.E.D diploma
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
- Must be a United States Citizen
- Must have the ability to pass a physical examination, a drug screen, a psychological evaluation, an oral examination and a comprehensive background investigation (pre-employment).

- Attach a copy of RI P.O.S.T. certificate or proof of active status as a Rhode Island Police Officer if applicable
- Provide a copy of valid driver’s license
- Provide a copy of birth certificate
- Provide a copy of H.S./G.E.D. diploma (or higher Education)
- Provide a copy of a DD-214 military form, if applicable
Selection Process
Applicants meeting all application and minimum requirements may be invited to participate in a formal oral examination process. The oral exam process will be 100% of the final examination score with a minimum passing score of 70% on the oral examination.
Candidates who pass the oral examination and initial background check will be invited for an interview with the Police Chief.
