Dispatcher

The Cromwell Police Department is currently accepting on line applications for the position of full time police dispatcher. Interested candidates should apply, with preference being given to candidates having prior or current certification as a Telecommunicator and/or COLLECT certification. A strong working knowledge of CAD/RMS systems is desirable and the ability to multitask between phone, radio and computer is essential.

Candidates must have excellent interpersonal skills, have a strong interest in customer service, and willing to work a variety of shifts including midnight's, weekends, holidays and overtime. Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license and must be able to meet all the job requirements listed in the town’s job description.

The Town of Cromwell offers a pensions plan, healthcare, paid vacation/holidays/personal days/sick days. The schedule for Dispatchers is a 4-2, with a 12-week bid cycle with shift differentials on evenings and midnight's. 

The Cromwell Police Department is participating in the CPCA written test program. Only individuals who take and pass the CPCA Dispatcher written test will be permitted to apply to the Cromwell Police Department.

Closing date is Friday, December 20, 2024.  The dispatcher (NAGE) contract expires on June 30, 2026
