Blaine County Sheriff's Office, MT Public Safety Jobs

DEPUTY SHERIFF

The Blaine County Sheriff's Office is hiring to fill one of our eight sworn positions.

SALARY

21.40/hr = $44,512 annually for the first year. This will increase by 5% after the 1 year probationary period. This includes full benefits for county employees and 20 year retirement.

TESTING REQUIREMENTS

Candidates will be required to pass the POST written test with a minimum score of 70% and the MPAT physical testing requirements for the state of Montana in under 6 minutes and 30 seconds within 90 days of Academy start date.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION

PLEASE PROVIDE YOUR MONTANA LAW ENFORCEMENT PHYSICAL ABILITIES TEST (MPAT) RESULTS WITH YOUR APPLICATION. Applicants who do not provide their test results will need to make arrangements to complete the testing.

****If you have not yet taken the MPAT, please contact the Montana Law Enforcement Academy (MLEA), Physical Fitness Proctor or the Sheriff's Office, to find out testing locations, dates and times to complete the test.****

HIRING PROCESS

The state of Montana has one Law Enforcement Academy. They hold three classes per year with 50-60 students per class. The basic course is three months long. Blaine County has a spot reserved for the September, 2021 class. Applicants will complete and pass the POST written selection test, a writing test, personal and panel interviews, a thorough background investigation and drug testing. After completing the Academy, new Deputies will go through approximately three months of field training.
