2024 classes
Starting on Wednesday, October 9, and Thursday, October 10, we're excited to host TWO Citizen Police Academy classes! 🚔

- Citizen Academy (English): Begins on Wednesday, October 9, from 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM.
- Citizen Academy (Spanish): Starts on Thursday, October 10, from 6:30 PM to 10:00 PM.

Classes meet weekly on their respective days for 8 weeks (excluding holidays)
 

The goal of the department’s Citizen Police Academy is to enhance communication and understanding between the department and citizens. In an overall approach to community policing, citizens will participate and learn about their police department, its mission and goals, and the men and women of the department who serve the community daily.

Each week, students will learn about different aspects of law enforcement including laws of arrest, patrol techniques, domestic violence and crisis intervention, firearms safety, crime scene management, and traffic enforcement. Students will be given many opportunities for hands-on learning both in and outside the actual classroom.
