We are looking for community minded individuals that are effective communicators and want to make a difference in their community. We are accepting applications for the position of a law enforcement certified deputy sheriff that will be assigned as a school resource officer. Must be able to work rotating sifts, holidays, nights, and weekends. Pay is depending on experience. The position receives a Virginia State benefits package and numerous overtime pay opportunities exist.
Minimum Requirements:
Must be 21 years of age. Must possess a high school diploma or GED - an associate degree from an accredited community or junior college preferred; must be a citizen of the United States; have no background or record of any criminal conviction; be of exemplary ethical reputation; possess a valid state operator's license; be able to satisfactorily pass a thorough background investigation; be in a physical condition which does not limit, in any way, activities necessary and/or inherent to law enforcement operations. You must currently be a Virginia certified law enforcement officer with a minimum of 2 years experience.
Hiring Process:
Must pass a panel interview, comprehensive background investigation, and psychological examination. Written and physical testing is being waived for Virginia certified law enforcement officers.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must be Virginia law enforcement certified with a minimum of two years experience. Have great communication skills, be able to deal fairly and courteously with the public, and ability to work alone and as a team. You must effectively communicate via voice, telephone, radio, intercom, or in writing with staff, or the public. Have the ability to keep accurate records and prepare reports, demonstrated skill in the use of firearms, physical condition that permits the activities necessary in, and inherent to law enforcement operation.
